Sanjana received her master’s degree in Microbiology from the University of Delhi, India and her PhD in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics from Michigan State University, USA. She conducted her doctoral studies in the laboratory of Dr. Shannon D. Manning, researching antimicrobial resistant infections in Shiga toxin-producing E. coli and Non-Typhoidal Salmonella by employing clinical microbiology, epidemiology and genomic methods. After completing her PhD in 2018, she moved to the Washington DC Metro area and is currently an ORISE Research Fellow at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. At FDA, she conducts qualitative and quantitative analyses on topics of public health importance such as the opioid epidemic, FDA’s regulatory decision making processes and quality of drug applications to provide scientific evidence that may be used to inform public health policies. She is passionate about science communication, loves watching tennis and is a budding photographer.
