Radiohistochemistry: Understanding TB Lesion Pathology and Its Response to Chemotherapy
Advances in PET/CT imaging of TB patients have the potential to inform treatment duration and aid the selection of new regimens with potentially shorter durations. Parallel studies in non-human primates allow a detailed comparison of the histology of TB lesions and a deeper understanding of the significance of such characteristics and patient outcome. I will discuss recent studies in both humans and non-human primates and the implications of this work for future development of novel chemotherapeutic regimens.
