Post-Travel Responsibilities

At the conclusion of each summer, participants in the MHIRT program are required to submit a final research report; they also present at a campus symposium attended by all faculty members participating in the program.

In addition, trainees are encouraged to submit abstracts to a national conference in an area related to the trainee?s coursework and research interests. Each year, students with abstracts accepted by a conference are invited to compete for three travel awards, to support their participation in the national conference. The student?s host country faculty and peer mentors are encouraged to travel to the conference when possible.

Alumni of the MHIRT program will be asked to join the Spring semester preparatory course to share their own experiences in the developing world, and how these experiences have informed their research careers.
